Services provided by Rothwell & District Live at Home Scheme

Befriending Service

A direct contact volunteer will develop a one to one relationship with the scheme member and visit them in their home. All volunteers have to supply references, undertake a criminal records bureau check and sign a confidentiality statement. They are also issued with a photo identity card. The volunteer and member will be matched and will hopefully have similar family circumstances, work experience or interests to share. The Live at Home Manager will arrange the match and then personally help with the first introduction.

'Phone Buddies'
If you don't particularly want someone to call and see you, but enjoy a nice chat on the phone, then you might like to join our 'Phone Buddies' scheme.
Through the scheme one of our trained volunteers would call you once a week for a little chat, giving you the chance to talk to someone about whatever you want.....anything from the weather or World news to whats happening in your community.
If you are interested in this service please contact the office to discuss further.

We are always actively seeking to increase the number of our befriender volunteers, so if you, or anyone you know, are interested in joining us to support older people in your local community then please get in touch!
